  • Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will launch an East Coast solo tour beginning with a two-night stand in Boston on August 1-2. The jaunt will wrap with another two-night stand, this one in Chicago, on August 21-22.
  • Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy will play a benefit show for presidential candidate Barack Obama at Chicago's Park West on July 11.
  • Bjork has canceled another gig, this one to be held today at Sheffield's City Hall, due to throat problems.
  • Pearl Jam raised $3 million for the Robin Hood Foundation on Tuesday night with their 26-song performance at New York's Beacon Theatre.
  • Alanis Morissette is holding a contest on MySpace Karaoke where fans are asked to cover one of four pre-selected songs from her new album, 'Flavors of Entanglement.'
  • One Day as a Lion -- the new project from Rage Against the Machine frontman Zach De La Rocha and former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore -- will release their self-titled debut on July 22.
  • Bon Jovi will play a free concert in New York City's Central Park on Saturday, July 12, in celebration of Major League Baseball's All-Star Game, which will be held at Yankee stadium on July 15. Tickets will be distributed at baseball parks and events throughout the city beginning July 2.
  • The Foo Fighters have added several dates to their summer U.S. tour, including an appearance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival on September 28.

Bjork Cancels Gig + More

  • Bjork has canceled her headlining July 5 concert at England's Wild in the Country Festival, calling the event "volatile" and questioning the organizer's ability provide her stage requirements.
  • Paul Van Dyk will play New York City's Pier 54 on August 16, for what's being dubbed as "a waterwide dance music extravaganza." Van Dyke's annual NYC concert was previously held in Central Park.
  • Paul Weller will kick off a U.S. tour in support of his latest album, '22 Dreams,' on September 2 with a two-night stand in L.A. The jaunt is set to wrap on September 16 in Chicago.
  • The Kinks' Ray Davies will embark on a brief solo North American tour, beginning July 11 in Ontario. The acoustic trek wraps on July 22 in Anaheim, California.
  • The Cold War Kids will release their as-yet-titled second album on September 23.
  • Joan Osborne will release a new album, titled 'Little Wild One,' on September 9. Osborne reteamed with producer/writers Rick Chertoff, Rob Hyman, and Eric Bazilian -- the collaborators behind her multiplatinum debut 'Relish' -- for the effort.
  • Devo are suing McDonald's over a Happy Meal toy called New Wave Nigel.
  • Amy Winehouse has been diagnosed with emphysema, according to her father. The lung disease is in its early stage, and according to her father, doctors have warned the singer that she will have to wear an oxygen mask unless she stops smoking drugs.
  • Brian Wilson has been added to the Newport Folk Festival lineup. The event takes place August 1-3 in Newport, Rhode Island, with Wilson's headlining performance falling on Aug. 1.
  • Bruce Springsteen and the E street band added seven dates to their North American summer tour, beginning with a run in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on July 27-28, and 31. The jaunt is now scheduled to wrap on August 30 in Milwaukee.
  • Conor Oberst revealed the cover art for his forthcoming self-titled solo album. The effort hits shelves on August 5.
  • Nine tracks from Guns N' Roses' long-delayed 'Chinese Democracy' leaked online Wednesday by Antiquiet.com. A cease-and-desist order from the band was immediately issued.
  • Santogold has been sued by a actor/performer Santo Gold for name infringement.
  • Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler has exited rehab. Tyler checked into a facility in Pasadena, California, last month, and later revealed it was due to a foot injury.

  • Former pop star-turned-beloved-indie singer Robyn will open for Madonna on several dates of Madge's European 'Sticky and Sweet' tour.

  • Amy Winehouse remains hospitalized after fainting at her London home on Monday. "She's staying there for the time being," a spokesperson said. "They are still not quite sure what happened and the tests were inconclusive."
  • Joan Jett makes had made history as the first female musician with a Gibson Electric Signature Model guitar. The Joan Jett Signature Melody Maker guitar was designed alongside the rock vet, who releases a greatest hits album this fall.
  • M.I.A. has cancelled her European tour, citing exhaustion as the culprit.
  • Mission of Burma launch the North American portion of their summer tour today in Boston. The jaunt is set to wrap on July 19 in Detroit.
  • Matthew Sweet -- the man behind the 1991 power/pop classic 'Girlfriend' -- will release his tenth studio album, 'Sunshine Lies' on August 26.
  • Prince has cancelled his June 16th gig in Dublin, Ireland due to undisclosed reasons. Those who had purchased tickets will be fully refunded.
  • Cat Power has added dates to her summer world tour, which returns to North America in July.

  • Amy Winehouse apologized to reporters outside of her London home on Sunday morning for reportedly racist videos featuring the singer that were revealed last week by News of the World.
  • Angels and Airwaves' Tom DeLonge and Warped Tour founder Kevin Lyman are among those appearing at Hollywood's Guitar Center for "an evening of dialogue and insight." The event takes place on June 12, and is free and open to the public.
  • Weezer will tour select cities in promotional support of the band's self-titled 'Red Album', which dropped Tuesday. No further details about the 'Hootenanny Tour' are known. A subsequent, extensive run through North America's arenas is also slated to get underway in October, although little else is known about those dates at this point.
  • Metal heroes Motörhead have completed work on 'Motörize', the follow-up to 2006's 'Kiss of Death,' which is slated for a late summer release.
  • Boy George will tour the U.S. and Canada this summer, beginning July 10 in Aspen, Colorado. The jaunt is set to wrap on August 23 in Dallas. This marks the former Culture Club frontman's first U.S. run in more than a decade.
  • Yes have been forced to cancel their 40th anniversary tour due to singer John Anderson's health problems.
  • The Raveonettes Sharin Foo announced her pregnancy and will be replaced by her sister, Louise, on the band's summer tour.
  • Snow Patrol have begun work on a new album in Ireland. The forthcoming effort will serve as the follow-up to 2006's platinum-selling 'Eyes Open.'
  • Gnarls Barkley, the Roots and the Black Keys are among the acts lined up for the Southern Comfort Music Experience tour, which kicks off June 28 in Denver, Colorado.
  • U2 disclosed the track list for the upcoming deluxe format reissues of their first three studio albums. Expanded editions of 1980's 'Boy', 1981's 'October' and 1982's 'War' each count an array of rare and previously unreleased material. Due for release on July 22, each album will count a 16 page booklet that includes unseen photos, lyrics and new liner notes.
  • Daft Punk has entered the studio to begin work on the follow-up to 2005's 'Human After All.'
  • A Metallica-themed 'Guitar Hero' appears to be on the horizon. An announcement from Activision, the publisher of the 'Guitar Heo' series, has yet to be announced but a post on Metallica's web site read, "Let's just say that perhaps, just maybe, if you've already mastered 'One' on ['Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock'], there might be a pile of 'Tallica songs in your future. More details later this summer."
  • Edwyn Collins -- best known in the U.S. for his 1995 smash 'A Girl Like You' -- has recruited a who's who of Britpop to design one-off record sleeves for his new single release, 'Home Again.' The 25 custom sleeves -- which will hit shops June 23 -- were designed by the likes of John Squire (ex-Stone Roses), Blur's Graham Coxon, Pete Shelley of Buzzcocks fame and Franz Ferdinand.
  • Bjork and Sigur Ros are teaming for a concert to be held in their native Iceland on June 28. The gig, which will be held at an undisclosed location in the capital of Reykjavik, aims to bring about evironmental awareness.
  • Yoko Ono lost her legal bid to prohibit the use of John Lennon's 'Imagine' in the film 'Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed,' which challenges the theory of evolution.
